The Foundation of Product Labeling
Pressure-sensitive labels are the standard label construction across virtually every industry — from food and beverage to pharmaceuticals, industrial products, retail consumer goods, and logistics. The combination of face stock, adhesive, and liner makes PSA labels the most versatile and widely applied label technology available.
Certified Labeling Solutions has been printing pressure-sensitive labels since 1986 from our Hillsborough, NJ facility. We run flexographic presses for high-volume efficiency and digital equipment for short runs, versioning, and variable data — giving our customers the right process for their volume and application.
Material selection is where most label failures start — the wrong face stock or adhesive for the application environment. Our team helps customers specify the right construction the first time, whether you're labeling glass bottles in an ice bucket, HDPE containers in a freezer, metal parts in a solvent environment, or retail packaging on a store shelf.
Face Stock & Material Options
Coated Paper
The workhorse material for consumer product labels, retail, and food packaging. Excellent printability, cost-effective for long runs. Available white, matte, gloss, and semi-gloss.
White BOPP Film
Waterproof, tear-resistant polypropylene film. The industry standard for beverage labels, supplement bottles, and applications requiring moisture resistance. Bright white with excellent ink adhesion.
Clear BOPP Film
No-label look for premium products. The clear film disappears on the container, giving the impression of direct printing. Popular for cosmetics, beverages, and premium consumer goods.
White Polyester (PET)
Exceptional dimensional stability and chemical resistance. Used in pharmaceutical labels, industrial product ID, and applications requiring resistance to solvents, oils, and extreme temperatures.
Vinyl
Flexible, conformable film for curved or textured surfaces. Excellent outdoor durability. Common for equipment nameplates, outdoor product labels, and applications requiring conformability.
Specialty & Foil
Metallic silver and gold foil materials for premium labels. Holographic, textured, and destructible films available for specialty product, security, and tamper-evident applications.
Adhesive Options by Application
Permanent Acrylic
General-purpose permanent adhesive for most paper, glass, plastic, and metal surfaces at room temperature. Excellent aging stability.
Freezer-Grade Adhesive
Bonds to surfaces at temperatures down to -40°F. Required for frozen food labels, refrigerated products, and cold chain packaging.
Removable Adhesive
Clean removal without surface damage or adhesive residue. For price tags, promotional labels, temporary identification, and quality hold tags.
High-Tack Adhesive
Aggressive bond for difficult low-energy surfaces including polyethylene, polypropylene, and rough or textured industrial substrates.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a pressure-sensitive label?
A pressure-sensitive label is a self-adhesive label that bonds to surfaces when pressure is applied — no heat or water required. The construction consists of a face stock, adhesive layer, and release liner. PSA labels are the most common format used in retail, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, and industrial applications.
What face stock materials do you offer?
We offer coated and uncoated paper, white and clear BOPP film, white and clear polyester (PET), vinyl, and specialty materials including foil and destructible films. Material selection depends on your application environment, container surface, required durability, and print process.
What adhesive options are available?
We offer permanent, removable, repositionable, high-tack, freezer-grade, and high-temperature adhesives. We match the adhesive to your application surface, temperature range, and removal requirements.
